Savannah Jones
Savannah is a 13 year old girl. She's very kind, caring, and respectful.
Unfortunately, she has to live a life of nonstop work, because her father, Mr. Jones, forces her to do all of the chores around the house. If she refuses, he abuses her until she will.
Savannah's father has been blaming her for her mother's death ever since she died in a terrible car accident. But it wasn't Savannah's fault that her mom died, at the time, she was only 2 years old. The incident scarred Savannah's life forever, and she remembers it very clearly, even though she was very young.
Savannah's only true friend is her pet, Buggie, a light green caterpillar who always tries his best to keep Savannah's spirits up and tells her that it will all get better soon.
Savannah's only wish now, is to get away from her father.

Buggie
Savannah's best friend and pet who has the ability to sniff out danger or "evil".
Savannah found Buggie a long time ago. He was left out in the cold all alone, with no parents. She found him stuck under some thorn bushes. Savannah was only about 10 years old when she found him, and they immediately became best friends for life.
Buggie can only speak "Bug Language", but through the years of knowing him, Savannah has learned it and can communicate with him whenever she wants, but she's the only one who can. "Bug Language" consists of mainly barking and dog sounds.
Buggie has to live on the balcony because Mr. Jones absolutely hates pets and refuses to let him inside. But whenever Savannah and Buggie are alone, he sneaks down the elevator and helps her with her chores.
He has high hopes that it will all get better soon, and he tells Savannah that whenever she feels like giving up.

Mr. Brett Jones
Mr. Jones, Savannah's father, has been abusing her ever since his wife passed away in a car accident, claiming that it was all Savannah's fault. The crash caused him to develop a few mental problems, and because of it, he's not very good at controlling his anger. Whenever he needs to let go of some steam, he takes it out on Savannah.
Before Mrs. Jones died, he wasn't as hotheaded as he is now. He used to be really friendly - a completely opposite personality - and absolutely loved Savannah, he would do anything for her. But now, he forces Savannah do all of the chores, pushes her around, and just makes her feel horrible. He also despises Buggie, and makes him live outside on their balcony.

Mrs. Lisa Jones
Mrs. Jones, Savannah's mother, died in a car accident while trying to feed Savannah her baby bottle.
What happened was, Lisa and Savannah were sitting in the backseat of the car while Brett was driving through the night. She accidentally dropped Savannah's bottle under the seat, and while she was trying to search for it, Brett pulled over and tried to help her find it. Suddenly, a huge truck rammed into the back of the car. Savannah and Brett survived, but Lisa died on the hospital bed a few days later.
Lisa was very polite and kind, just how Savannah turned out to be. Savannah still keeps her mom in her heart, and sometimes feels as if she is watching over her.

Rodger Rottweiler
Rodger finds Savannah and Buggie laying at the bottom of a cliff, after they jumped off to escape from the police. He decides to help Savannah run away from her father, but we find out later that he was actually working with Mr. Jones to get Savannah back home. Once Savannah found this out, she became very angry at him, especially after trusting him enough to tell him the truth about her father.
...But, maybe there's still some good in him?
